Frequently Asked Questions

Select a question from the list below. If you encounter an issue not covered in the FAQs, contact Technical Support.

Series 5000

How can you compare a reading taken with an ESD field meter with units of kV/inch with a reading taken with the Novx meter with units in Volts?

If you are measuring static charge on an object shouldn't the Peak Hold voltage and the real time voltage correspond?

When we measured a static charge the peak voltage stayed at a certain value, but the real time voltage value never went back up to the peak value.

Series 53xx

How can you compare a reading taken with an ESD field meter with units of kV/inch with a reading taken with the Novx meter with units in Volts? When we measure we get different values. Which is more accurate and reliable and why?

If you are measuring static charge on an object shouldn't the Peak Hold voltage and the real time voltage correspond?

When we measured a static charge the peak voltage stayed at a certain value, but the real time voltage value never went back up to the peak value. Is it possible we are disturbing the static charge and causing it to dissipate? What would cause this discrepancy?

Multiplexing System

What is the Novx Multiplexing System?

What are the Demo, Starter, Mini, and Unlimited versions of the software?

What are the basic specifications for the Multiplexing System Host Computer?

Can I start with a small system and expand later to a large system?

What provisions are made for system security?

How is system status displayed?

Is the hardware/system designed as "open architecture"?

How is the system configured?

What is the GUI (Graphical User Interface) update rate?

How is the display updated by alarming stations, can you select any stations?

Can each device have an upper and lower range for the alarm trip points?

What is the frequency of log file updates?

How big is the Event Log file, how is it named?

Can I put stations off line or display status but not record their alarm status?

What provisions are made to handle proximity voltage analog offset problems?

Can there be mixed device models in the system? How about on the same port?

Just how do I "zero" the DART?

What about cabling?

What about cable terminations?

Can the system be networked?

What is the Event Log data file like?

How about maintenance?

I am installing a system. Why do some DARTs work well and some work erratically?
